Consolidation day at home.
....
Our family land feud isn't going away and the 'Government of AJK' through its local tehsil (sub-division level) administration continues to send me summons after summons, rather than engaging the civilised way through written communication as I have with them. Hence, the system is obviously rigged for corruption and violence. It was clear from yesterday's meeting with the commissioner of Mirpur division that most employees in government are not actually that educated, given that their employment is obtained through intercessionary means and also usually as a quid pro quo for political votes. They are not equipped or trained to respond to written communication and may well legally slip up if they make any such attempt.
Despite the above not being an excuse for threatening me with arrest for utilising my own land, I did agree with the divisional commissioner yesterday that I will meet the assistant commissioner (AC) Sehnsa today at 1000hrs, after the former made a phone call to him on my behalf in front of me yesterday.
Although I arrived at c. 1020hrs this morning at the AC's office I was informed that the AC had left for Muzaffarabad yesterday evening and it wasn't clear when he would be back. I think I will remain insistent on receiving a written response to what I wrote to the local tehsildar on the 29th of July 2025, after learning on the 12th of July 2025 of what my paternal uncle is trying to do to obtain our share of the ancestral land, through influencing the local administration.
Now, despite the letter from me on the 29th of July 2025, followed by my meeting the deputy commissioner in Kotli (and giving him a written copy to respond to) on the 11th of September 2025 we now have a fresh summons on our hands. Here's the copy of it:
I re-iterate that having ill-equipped government personnel is not an excuse for not responding to written communication and it proves the system is designed for corruption and violence. The whole system of governance in AJK needs to be revamped and I have been playing my part for the last 2 decades.
