Daily Diary (DD) - Day 343 of 2025

0600hrs:

Countdown to end of 2025: 23 days

An improvement has been made, mainly because I got to bed at 2024hrs (8:24pm) and fell asleep by 2100hrs (9pm). I easily got up by 0530hrs, which is about an hour and a half's improvement on what has effectively been my modal average over the recent past viz. 0700hrs.

I now only have an hour to bridge at the top end (evening) and 2 and a half hours at the bottom end (morning).

The following excerpt of a note in Urdu is quite telling - not only of the corruption by design make-up of the Pakistani State - but of how #RightsMovementAJK has struck at that psyche:

English translation of the above note:

...was incessantly stopped. Those who were stopping me were discouraging me from going to Dhak Shakkar Parian where - they said - that if slogans against Pakistan and its army were chanted there, this could create a fresh wave of difficulties for you. I told these well wishers who were trying to prevent me from going there, that the local people (public) of Dhak Shakkar Parian had - on their own initiative & expense - built a road and thus created a positive example by not inviting any politician, minister or important government personality for its opening. Rather they had invited me as I have no political agenda. Neither do I have any wish to fight an election. Azad Kashmir's district Bagh and tehsil Dheerkot has produced prime ministers and presidents but if the Kashmiris there are making roads on their own initiative & expense (by soliciting charity direct from the concerned public) then I should visit this area (viz. Dhak Shakkar Parian) and understand the story of their will, determination & struggle.   

I was then told that the embers of rebellion in Azad Kashmir have just been extinguished with a great amount of difficulty. That if an opening ceremony for a (newly) built road turns into a procession than an unpleasant scenario may emerge, for which you will have to take full responsibility. One friend even went to the extent of saying that only a few days ago participants at a workshop in NDU (National Defence University) were given a briefing in Quetta and there your picture was included as (an example) of an 'undesired personality', therefore take precautions. I remembered the incident of 2005...
