Daily Diary (DD) - Day 172 of 2025

0510hrs:

A sleepless night, with a little rain but a lot of hours without electricity once again.

There is much to address and most of it is addressable, if only our own people can see beyond their individual self-interest.

Which is much easier said than done.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 171 of 2025

2324hrs:

I returned home yesterday evening to make final preparations to evict the colonial administrative structure dominating our district (and indeed the whole territory of AJK).

We were deprived of electricity from about 2200hrs yesterday evening to about 1000hrs this morning. The sweltering heat enforced me to take a shower late at night, only to find myself unable to get up in the morning on account of a very painful back. I'm still trying to recover and thankfully the pain has receded considerably.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 166 of 2025

0449hrs:

Today could prove to be the beginning of yet another era in the history of mankind.

It is possible that by as early as next week, we could obtain confirmation as to whether this new era has indeed begun. Or whether it was another false alarm.

....

Judging by what emerged over the course of today, my thoughts earlier this morning have a true ring to them.

We learned of the arrest and subsequent detention of Ayaz Siddique Butt at c. 1300hrs today (1pm). Thus was born the hashtag #Release_Ayaz_Butt .

Here's the short interview we took of Ayaz Butt while meeting him in a room used as accommodation quarters by police employees:

Facebook Link

He had not been given any written evidence of the charges against him, even though he had been informed by police sources of his impending arrest more than a week ago and even when he insisted to see such while waiting at the police station.

Thus, there was no written evidence of his arrest and in public interest it was crucial that we obtain Ayaz Butt's statement on video, before any opportunity to divert attention away from the actual (yet always deliberately concealed) complainant viz. the Pakistani Army, could be taken.

As such cases have proliferated in AJK over the past few years in particular, especially in the wake of #RightsMovementAJK there is a very familiar pattern to such arrests and subsequent torture, including detention. A list of such co-citizens targeted by the Pakistani Army - through their clandestine agencies - is almost becoming voluminous:

The following list is not exhaustive but certainly a rising trend whereby the AJK police force is 'forced' to arrest their co-citizens on behalf of protecting 'public opinion as unreservedly in favour of the Pakistani State', to give the impression that when the Pakistani State rhetorically and intermittently reminds the world that it supports the right to self determination of the people of the State of Jammu & Kashmir, it isn't at all hypocritical.

You cannot force a people in any given territory to like you, especially when you exploit their religious emotions in order to ruthlessly exploit their resources and give heavenly meaning to your corrupt existence.

1) Lala Sarfaraz in 2023 (deceased in 2024)

n.b. This writer walked barefoot from Dadyaal to Rajhdhani in the scorching summer heat of 2023, in order to secure Lala Sarfaraz's release after he had strongly urged the Pakistani Army to militarily withdraw from Jammu & Kashmir as per UNCIP resolutions via Facebook posts.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 163 of 2025

1354hrs:

Another blistering day. Today is definitely my last day at home before I venture back out to Sharda for a few days.

We still have our eyes on completing the last 2 remaining subdivisions (tehsils) of 35 in total viz. Hattian & Leepa.

We are giving a few more days to our Jhelum Valley district administration to sort themselves out, else we mobilise a large number of our public to bring their inhumane activities to the fore.

....

The following is the direction that the Pakistani State is dragging the people of AJK towards:

Here's the text of the tweet elaborating on this poster:

🧵 Thread: Justice for Zarnosh & Jabran – Victims of Extrajudicial Killings In Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
1/
Two brothers.
Two funerals.
No trial.
No FIR.
Zarnosh Naseem & Jabran were killed without due process, labeled “terrorists” without proof, and denied basic legal rights.
This is a fight for truth and accountability.
#JusticeForZarnosh #JusticeForJabran
2/
Zarnosh was in police custody for 13 days.
Then released.
Weeks later, falsely linked to a murder he didn’t commit — on a day he was at a family wedding (with proof).
When he refused to do their dirty work, they hunted him.
Then killed him.
3/
His wife, Umme Ahmed, breaks her silence:
“He wasn’t a terrorist.
He was running for his life from the real criminals in uniform.
Even animals weren’t harmed by him — yet he was branded a terrorist.”
4/
Jabran – another innocent man – was also killed.
No investigation.
No accountability.
No explanation.
Just silence.
5/
The state arrested elderly women, tortured his aunt, and terrorized the family.
Yet, for 8 months, with all their force, they couldn’t catch him — because he didn’t commit any crime.
6/
This isn’t just about Zarnosh & Jabran.
It’s about the right to due process, the abuse of power, and fabricated labels used to silence dissent.
What happened to them can happen to anyone.
7/
📢 We demand:
•Judicial inquiry into the killings
•FIR for Jabran’s murder
•Transparent investigation
•End to false “terrorism” labels
🗓️ On June 12, Zarnosh’s family will gather at Bagh DC Office.
Join them. Raise your voice. Stand for justice.
8/
History will ask:
Where were you when they were killing sons without trials?
If we stay silent now, we fail them — and ourselves.
✊🏽 Speak up.
Retweet.
Show up.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 155 of 2025

0946hrs:

Waking up in Thota near Garhi Dupatta, as we continue discussions with the public on how to penetrate the defences against peace laid out by external forces in this territory.

We will be trying to meet the Deputy Commissioner of district Jhelum Valley today, to either assist us in overcoming these egotistical hurdles or to witness an escalation, initially through 500 members of the public assisting us in overcoming the Chattian checkpost after Eid.

If the above peaceful assertion doesn't work then we will escalate this matter through diplomatic forums, as we have been compelled to do on previous occasions. In short, there is always a solution available in favour of the public.

These external forces seem to be forever keen on humiliating themselves.
