Luton Town kept me up till late and they have redeemed themselves somewhat. Returning to winning ways by beating Rotherham 2-0 away, which has now seen them earning 20 points from a possible 24, over the last 8 games. Those 2 draws against Stockport (at home) and Mansfield (away) are perhaps the reason why they are are still 3 points away from a play-off place, with only 2 games to go.
Half the riddle will be solved this Saturday I suspect but the other half will only surface at the final whistle, on the final day of the season (next Saturday 2 May).
Out of control:
Stockport - 6 points (3 games left & if they win game in hand, currently level on GD)
Bradford - 5 points (2 games left & 4 goals advantage to Luton in GD)
Bolton - 3 points (2 games left & 9 goals adrift in GD too)
Stevenage - 3 points (2 games left & 8 goals advantage to Luton in GD)
There are still effectively 6 teams vying for 4 promotion play-off places, although Plymouth have dropped 1 point below Luton (with identical GD).
Our next update will be on Saturday and the following fixtures will be noted with interest.
Doncaster vs Stevenage
- Both have won 3 of their last 6 games. A Stevenage loss followed by a Luton win will give Luton control over their destiny.
Stockport vs Peterborough
- Stockport have won 3 of their last 6 games, although they have been faltering of late while Peterborough have not won any of their last 6 games. It seems difficult for Peterborough to get anything here, despite still being affected by the relegation zone.
Bradford vs Bolton
- Both have only won 2 of their last 6 games and there is potential in this result for Luton. Bolton just need a point to secure their play-off place and given their unassailable goal difference (GD) compared to Luton (viz. 9 goals), a win for Bolton would suit Luton better. However, if Bolton lose, that would also give Luton control of their destiny albeit having to beat Bolton away on the final day of the reason and making up for that GD gap today against Barnsley, while also hoping that Bradford score a few against Bolton, before Luton make up the difference on that final fixture viz. Bolton vs Luton. Meanwhile, Bradford losing or drawing would mean Luton need Exeter to win against Bradford at home on the final day, as they fight against relegation.
Luton vs Barnsley
- Barnsley have only won 1 of their last 6 games while Luton have won 4 of their last 6. However, Barnsley did give Luton their worst defeat of the season (5-0) earlier and Luton could do justice by winning 6-0 and narrowing that GD gap with Bolton.
Plymouth vs Port Vale
- Plymouth have won 3 of their last 6 while relegated Port Vale have won 2 of their last 6. I can't imagine Port Vale getting anything out of this and I think Plymouth (who have had a much better second half of the season), will continue to knock on that play-off door by the end of this match.

I tried to sleep at 2000hrs once again. I didn't get to close my eyes till about c. 2115hrs and despite remaining in that state I didn't actually get to sleep till about 0030hrs. I eventually got up 4 hours later than intended. I will try again tonight. Practice will edge me closer to perfection in the coming days.

Amongst other duties, we met the president of the Kotli district bar association Choudhary Razzaq Advocate of Seri in Khuiratta, to advance the arrangements for a lecture at the bar by Dr Nazir Gilani. He said he would confer with his colleagues and give me a date for the lecture in due course:

Later in the evening we ventured out to Kajrullah on the outskirts of Khuiratta to meet veteran freedom fighter Quayyum Raja:
Subjects discussed in this detailed conversation were:
1) An internal political process in AJK
2) Babu Singh of Kathua, Jammu and his mysterious disappearance amidst an apparent Indian sting operation and a demand for him to be given an opportunity to present his version of developments in public.
3) The role of Britain and its colonial legacy.
4) Remedies and our role as the public of JKA as sovereign entity, both at home and in the diaspora (particularly the UK).

Unaccountable State power aggression, speaking truth to power, self-perpetuating slave mentality and the bounties of freedom; the condition in which God created man/woman and hence the rationale of heaven and hell.
If a human being is not free to do good or bad, to make decisions independently for themselves then how can there be reward and punishment? Then what would be the point of heaven and hell?
Freedom is a birth right, a default natural human condition. It cannot be denied for colonial compulsions, for resource extraction and it certainly cannot be denied in the name of God.

This isn't the first time that a vehicle (public transport in this particular case) travelling between one of the various entry/exit points of AJK and Pakistan has been fired upon, in an attempt to loot its passengers. Many a horrible tale has repeated itself since 1947 and there appears little that the Pakistani State is willing to do to prevent such atrocities recurring over and over again:

This is Malik Waseem behind bars: For the crime of protecting his home and family and refusing to forgo a claim to stay on land that he has been living on since 1949 in AJK. He had been evicted and was legally fighting to get the land back. He has a stay of order from the court to not disturb him but the police still evicted him.
It is another side of the Kashmir dispute where many Kashmiris are working in the AJK territory to see a change to various legislations and public policy that will give Kashmiris in AJK more license to be their own voice. They would have more say over the entire region and dialogue as to how they can move forward.
Malik Waseem is a third generation refugee from Kupwara in IOK. Ratan Singh was the original owner but was either killed or displaced in 1949 after forced migrations and killings by religious communities at the time. The land is described as"Evacuee Property."
A search is underway by Malik's family, legal team and supporters for the descendants of the original owner but it is India in this case who have all the land records and upon being asked will not release them.
It seems to be a very sad state of affairs and an example of removing someone unfairly from land they have been living on since 1949 and now the local officials want to reclaim it and sell it for money. It is senseless to jail for someone for standing up for their rights in a just and fair way.
Malik Waseem and his family should surely be allowed to stay on that land. It does not seem right or fair to make them homeless.
Fighting with time to make sense of diverse opinion and strategy which bombards me on a daily basis. Creating consensus is not elusive though.

JKLF (Toqeer faction/group) are into their 59th day of a sit-in protest in Kotli, for the return of their confiscated literature by Pakistan's clandestine agencies. They conducted a novel protest today by symbolically handcuffing themselves, to offer the visiting prime minister of AJK Sardar Abdul Qayoom 'Niazi' some food for thought. After all, the latter is 'officially' the head of State of the 'free' part of Jammu Kashmir & Allied areas.

The following is also a novel manner of attracting attention to the child victims of war, namely 'Red to Green' Kashmir. This annual activity on the 4th of January began a few years ago and initially received some patronage from the AJK government, before paranoia on behalf of the Pakistani State set in, as it usually does with any well-intentioned initiative in AJK. Meanwhile, the commitment of local activists - despite the icy temperatures and rain - may be witnessed:

It's not often that we get to hear the 'real deal' in Gilgit Baltistan, more so on the day that commemorates the 1st of November 1947 rebellion against the Dogra governed State of Jammu Kashmir & Allied areas. We are into our 11th day and 9th subdivision (Kotli). Our engine snapped its timing belt for the second time in just over 2 months in Khuiratta on the day before yesterday.
This automatically puts us in a fix because it complicates our daily movement, adds time and distance to our travel, not to mention the extra expenses incurred.
I am also behind in conciliating data, though I have covered most ground on our rest day yesterday in Dadyaal.
It is difficult but not impossible.

Given the breakdown of our vehicle just as we left Khuiratta yesterday, rather than proceeding to Kotli - as per our tour schedule - we came back to Dadyaal to recuperate.
We have almost all the world's odds against us to achieve our public interest target of conducting our inaugural session of the People's Assembly in our capital on Sunday the 9th of February.
