Daily Diary (DD) - Day 242 of 2023

2326hrs:

We live in unprecedented times and thus must perform in an unprecedented manner.

....

We had the opportunity of visiting our border town of Holaar in Sehnsa where the local public have also set up a daily camp to notify the Pakistani State and their satraps in AJK that 'enough is enough'. This visit also coincided with Commander Farooq of Mong's visit to the area to sensitise the local conformist politician Pehlwan Bashir about the direction of the current rights movement in AJK:

We put 3 questions to Commander Farooq in reference to the Poonch Uprising in 1947; which culminated in the declaration of a provisional government in Junjaal Hill, Palandri on the 24th of October 1947:

1) This declaration by Sardar Ibrahim (Available at this hyperlink) referenced the people of this territory as the reason why they rebelled against the Maharajah of Kashmir. Why has the people's reference been bypassed from that date in 1947 to this date in 2023, to the extent that we are on the cusp of another rebellion?

2) This declaration assured that all (religious) minorities in the State would be included in governance, yet far from being included they were ruthlessly driven out of what became AJK. His thoughts on that?

3) This declaration made it clear that they wanted to enjoy equally peaceful and fruitful relations with their neighbours India and Pakistan. Yet, this government was and continues to remain biased towards Pakistan. Indeed, the latter expects the people here to remain blindly faithful to this territory's accession to Pakistan. How did such a 'switch' occur?

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 355 of 2021

1530hrs:

According to some very senior analysis in this territory it seems the knives are out for me, just like they were for my predecessors (some of whom I didn't agree with). Namely, K. H. Khursheed, Maqbool Bhat, Sardar Qayoom, Sardar Ibrahim, Mirwaiz Yusuf, Choudhary Ghulam Abbas and Mumtaz Rathore. All these were gigantic/titanic personalities but the State (read: Pakistan) did not allow them to flourish. We have everything available but when we go against the State, they have the apparatus, the machinery, they have other resources available to kill us and kill our work..and they succeed. For example, they (read: Pakistan) promote Raja Najabat Hussain who perhaps cannot even write his name (simply meaning that he isn't able to articulate much in writing) but they need him as the latter is ever ready to sell his soul. In reference to me, if they (the Pakistanis) arrest me again, through some pretext or the other (maybe by planting some drugs in my home or whatever), its a strange world.

On my part, I will continue to remain vigilant and preempt anything untoward by Pakistan's clandestine agencies - using the various methods at my disposal - to transition from an economy of war to an economy of peace. Will this make the Pakistani State's raison d'etre and military dominance of society evaporate? I don't want to speculate but pursuing pro life policies for the sake of humanity at large cannot be stalled for the sake of intermittent destruction that benefits the few.

An albatross on the neck of the world's conscience.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 218 of 2020

1500hrs:

We are certain that whatever we do today in terms of condemning our 2 southerly neighbours will be insignificant compared to what we need to do over the coming months to enable sanity to prevail in global geopolitics. Here's a sample of what we conducted today:

.....

I'm inclined to estimate that genuine pressure on the British government is slowly mounting in reference to their unfulfilled responsibilities in Jammu Kashmir & Allied. Here's a typical non committal response by the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office to a letter by the Scottish activist Claire Bidwell:

This has generated a discussion at the following FB link:

This is a particular comment thread that includes my comment:

Sagir Ahmed:

Tanveer Ahmed commented: As the unresolved status of Jammu Kashmir & Allied is a political problem created by the British Empire, all political prisoners throughout the territory are the moral and legal responsibility of the UK government. They should no longer be allowed to continue 'passing the buck' to India and Pakistan, both countries which came into being precisely according to the British Empire's satisfaction. They also not only facilitated the entry of Indian and Pakistan troops into JKA but stabilised their presence too. In 2020, it is no longer clever of them to abdicate responsibility. Nature has its own way of biting back.

Claire Bidwell:

It does indeed and I will keep biting them here until I get deeper answers!

Soraya Boyd:

Sagir salaams. Britain is exceptionally good in fact it really does excel at it: it creates a problem, makes a mess and leaves with great pomp and circumstance. A very very British characteristic. Britain has done this many times over. Just a few examples: Palestine and Kashmir. Of course our responsibility as Brits is to hold our gov to account. We do and we will continue to. Rest assured. Undoubtedly politicians by and large are very good at postponing the inevitable but FREEDOM WILL BE YOURS brother.

......

Meanwhile, pressure is also mounting on the Pakistani government to stop prolonging this needless conflict by pursuing a territorial dispute with India. According to the prime minister of AJK, this is what negates the genuine pursuit of the right to self determination by the people of Jammu Kashmir & Allied:

I understand that I will have to transcribe this video into Urdu text and then translate it into English:

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 188 of 2019

1121hrs:

As I'm constantly on the road in district Neelam...it is quite difficult for me to post every day.

Much like most work done since 2005, activism on the ground is more thorough than the write-ups that should follow it. Thus, there is a huge lag in between, which is increasing by the day.

The Language of Agency

Notes from Diary of 030415:

In any land where business and politics are intertwined, state agencies exploit, monitor and manage public space, leaving public agency an up-hill trans-generational exercise to create, formalise collective public wisdom and translate that into a genuine public agency.

In the year of 1947, there were perhaps no more publicly significant individuals than the un-linked troika of Maharaja Hari Singh, Sheikh Abdullah and Sardar Ibrahim......

The first wanted Swiss style neutrality and independence, with him as constitutional monarch. The second was swayed by India's charm and the third put his faith in Pakistan. The latter two over time and through bitter experiences changed their stance to pretty much what the Maharajah's stance was.

Their individual political decisions prove that no genuine organised public agency existed in the princely State of J & K, otherwise how could the state disintegrate to a bare skeleton in 7 pieces with complex social ruptures that dis-oriented its subjects and aspiring citizens.

...Forced migration in all directions within the state and beyond, being just one aspect which many of us suffer the effects of, to this day.....

To be continued of course....

Meanwhile, in response to my regular and now formal use of the term 'public agency' or 'public agent', some citizens have questioned the validity of its use.

Hence, my following explanation:

Context of the use of the term 'Public Agency'

Denying legitimacy to foreign state agencies can only be achieved through genuine public agency in the State of AJK. The political route has a pre-condition just as a genuine constitution has a pre-condition of an indigenously created political process.

The origin or utility of terms should reflect socio-political reality.

That's what I've striven to understand by working within and amongst the subjects cum citizens of the state.
