Daily Diary (DD) - Day 230 of 2025

1454hrs:

Another day at home after feeling exhausted from 2 days of relatively intense travelling, given that I'd just come out of a 6 day hunger strike not much more than a week ago.

This is time for the family as well as time for improving the 20 year old independent research record.

....

Wherever important documentation is released or published by anybody related to this territory, I do make a point of documenting it for the public record.

Here are a few important examples for today:

1) Press Release Rawalakot Arrests

The United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP) strongly condemns the arrest and torture of peaceful protesters in Rawalakot, Poonch (PoJK).

Peaceful protest, freedom of association, peaceful assembly, freedom of expression, and the right to self-determination are fundamental human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), including:

- Article 19 – Freedom of opinion and expression
- Article 20 – Right to peaceful assembly and association
- Article 5 – Protection from torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment
- Article 9 – Protection from arbitrary arrest, detention or exile
- Article 1 – All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights
- Article 21 – Right to take part in government and express political will

The arrests and torture of individuals who were peacefully chanting slogans such as “We want freedom,” “No to accession,” and “Kashmir humara chhor do” are clear violations of these international laws and principles. Such oppressive tactics cannot silence dissent or suppress the legitimate aspirations of the people.

UKPNP will raise this issue at all international forums, including the United Nations, and demands the immediate and unconditional release of all detainees.

United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP)

..

2) Condemnation of Human Rights Violations in POJK: Call for International Intervention

Date: 17 August 2025

On 13 August 2025, a volleyball match organized by the Poonch Volleyball Association in Pakistan-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (POJK) turned into a scene of political repression and violence.

Political figures, including MLA Hassan Ibrahim and Tahir Anwar Advocate, incited the crowd with political slogans. When spectators peacefully raised slogans affirming their Kashmiri identity, police—acting on the direct orders of these leaders—launched baton charges, tear gas shelling, and arbitrary arrests. The following day, false FIRs were registered, and a search campaign against innocent civilians was initiated.

This is a gross violation of fundamental rights, including freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and protection from arbitrary detention. Such actions silence the voices of Kashmiris and deepen mistrust in the region.

We Demand:

Immediate and unconditional release of all detainees.

An end to harassment and intimidation of civilians.

Accountability of politicians and officials who ordered these unlawful actions.

International monitoring of the situation in POJK.

We call on the United Nations, human rights organizations, and the global community to urgently intervene and hold those responsible accountable.

Justice, dignity, and freedom are the rights of every citizen — the people of Jammu & Kashmir must not be silenced through force.

Issued by
Umar Hayat Spokesman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front.

(Notes: The timeline for this press release was yesterday but as I saw it today, it is being incorporated on today's date. This faction of the JKLF is led by Sardar Sagheer Khan)

..

3) Subject: Urgent International Appeal to Save the Life of Mr. Yasin Malik

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am compelled to draw your urgent attention to the case of Mr. Yasin Malik, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), who has been convicted under a process that raises serious concerns about fairness, transparency, and compliance with international human rights standards.

Mr. Malik’s 13-year-old daughter, Ms. Razia Sultana, has appealed to the conscience of the international community to save her father from imminent execution. This appeal goes beyond one individual case—it concerns the fundamental principles of justice, human dignity, and the protection of political freedoms in conflict-affected regions.

Under Article 6 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), the right to life is protected as a supreme human right. The imposition of the death penalty following a trial that does not meet international standards of fairness violates Article 14 of the ICCPR, which guarantees the right to a fair and impartial hearing.

Moreover, Article 19 of the ICCPR upholds the right to freedom of opinion and expression, which includes peaceful political expression such as that exercised by Mr. Malik throughout his political career.

The execution of a political leader under questionable judicial circumstances risks silencing dissenting voices and undermining the democratic principles that the United Nations and the international community strive to uphold. It may also escalate tensions in an already volatile region, thereby threatening international peace and security, contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter (Articles 1 and 55).

I therefore respectfully urge your good office to:

1. Intervene with the Government of India to halt the execution of Mr. Yasin Malik;
2. Ensure that he is afforded his right to a fair, transparent, and impartial trial in                        accordance with international standards;
3. Send an independent fact-finding mission or engage relevant UN Special Rapporteurs         to monitor and report on his case;
4. Safeguard his life and uphold the principles of justice, human rights, and the rule of            law.

This is an urgent matter of human rights protection and international legal obligation. The world must not allow injustice to be carried out under the shadow of legality.

Sincerely,

(Your Full Name)

Ultimately, I'll return to a major theme emerging from my 2 decade old continuous research:

#AJKReferendum2023

=

#PublicMandateAJK2025

If you want freedom and are willing to take the responsibility then you must set your own terms and conditions between yourselves (Riyasati Baashindey).

Ref. #SSR1927

Otherwise, the rest of the world is already dictating their terms and conditions to you and will continue to do so, with ever more intensity.

The following photo and note in Urdu has been written by a co-citizen of mine. I have shared it to provide some context to how some or even many of my co-citizens perceive my work:

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 28 of 2024

1919hrs:

Fared a lot better today. Got up at 0830hrs after sleeping just after 0100hrs. I did fall back asleep at around 0900hrs till 1030hrs. Compared to the 15 hours of rest yesterday I restricted my quota today to 9 hours. Still 3 hours more than the optimum. The struggle continues.

....

We must remember those who peacefully fought for us and got killed for their selfless efforts:

We bring you a document submitted (effectively) by UKPNP chairman Shaukat Ali Kashmiri at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva today:

I shall use the following words written by Dr Shabir Choudhary himself to introduce the following video:

A dialogue with Tanveer Ahmed. Make Azad Kashmir military free zone. Peaceful struggle to continue.

We don't need protection from the Pakistani army. There shall be no war with India. Promotion of trade, peace and regional cooperation is needed.

United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP) held a ground-breaking conference in Pakistan's capital Islamabad today. The coverage of it here on this weblog is merited as they attempted to invite as many political parties as possible (including myself but as I don't travel to Pakistan since 2011, I had to apologise) to deliberate on our national question.

Chief guests were Manzoor Pashteen of the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) and our very own Baba Jaan Hunzai of Gilgit Baltistan. Other parties that participated included; PNP (Pakistan National Party), JKNAP (Jammu Kashmir National Awami Party), KNP Karakorum National Party in GB, Kashmir Freedom Movement (KFM), Kashmir Crises Management, Kashmir Awami Worker's Party (KWAM), JKLF (Toqeer Group), Awami Itahad Party, JKLF (Rauf Group), Kashmir Plebiscite Front, Awami Worker's Party, Gilgit Baltistan People's Rights Movement, Gilgit Baltistan United Movement, Gilgit Baltistan Civil Society, Awami Action Committee Baltistan. Gilgit Bachao Tehreek, Liberation Front, JKLF (Nazriyati) and others.

Pakistan's clandestine agencies didn't like this get together at all and they tried their best to derail it. However, as has become apparent since 2020 in particular, their grip on affairs has ebbed away. If this conference had taken place a few years ago, they may have been succeeded in their default nefarious designs.

UKPNP issued an 'Islamabad Declaration' at the end of this conference. Here's the press release written by the head of their diplomatic affairs Dr Shabir Choudhary:

Day 30 at Maqbool Bhat Shaheed Square - Dadyaal.

0808hrs

....

So, there is now a growing perception that those who struggle for freedom or fundamental rights in AJK are being pushed against a wall.

The gap of relative intolerance displayed by the occupying powers on either side of JKA is being rapidly narrowed, it is perceived.

There were many other arrests yesterday and have continued today throughout AJK, particularly in Rawalakot and Muzaffarabad. Activists of JKNAP, its student wing JKNSF and now UKPNP have been detained. Simultaneously, there has been a sharp increase in the volume of protests by the general public, particularly in reference to the shortage of electricity delivered throughout AJK. Some areas even report a pattern of 1 hour on and 3 hours off throughout the 24 hour cycle.

Here's just one example of arrests being made today in Muzaffarabad:

....

Meanwhile, let's take you back to the British colonial age in India for a moment, via Gilgit Baltistan. We can borrow an Urdu phrase framed by the iconic activist Shafqat Inqalabi of Ghizer yesterday:

Translated thus:

Those cursed creatures who proclaim that they obtained freedom for the sake of cow's meat, what do they know that the English used them in the name of the cow to accomplish their motives.

End of translation....

I would suggest that our people are still a million years behind European colonial strategy. We need to catch up real fast or else we'll disappear as a political entity.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 48 of 2022

1122hrs:

Day 29 at Martyr's Square Kotli

.....

In the evening 1800hrs meet today, 10 'nationalist' parties were invited yesterday (as notified in yesterday's diary). Four came and six remained absent. It is obvious that I will have to work harder to bring them together in the future. Having said that, 4 out of 10 is not bad....40% is a pass mark:

.......

The following is a post on Pakistan Citizen Portal:

I couldn't access an embed option and thus here's the link

I'll translate it too, for clarity:

Where at every kilometre - instead of a library or experimental lab - you will find shrines and tombs (mausoleums), there instead of scientists; wanderers (vagrants) are born.

End of translation....

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 40 of 2022

0159hrs:

Day 21 at Martyr's Square Kotli

Let's begin today by sparing a thought for the other side of the LOC. Indeed, the other side of the proverbial coin:

Let me complete the sentence with the liberty that Twitter strategically doesn't offer.

I know what he's going through. We can't let #India or #Pakistan take such liberties with our people. Especially those who amplify the 'public reference': promised but never delivered by the above or by the original architect, #GreatBritain or by the country that describes itself as the 'People's Republic of #China or by the most evangelical of democracies #USA We bear no grudges but adhere to the Golden Rule “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

End of sentence...

.....

We can slide out of politics and take ourselves back to the drawing board of culture:

........

Here's the letter for international (and regional) human rights organisations in reference to Malik Waseem:

Update 1600hrs:

The torture being meted out by the AJK administration on Malik Waseem is intensifying:

He was given bail for his cyber crime allegation but instead of being released, he was taken to jail!

'Recharged' under 16 MPO (Maintenance of Public Order) once again! He was already on bail for that charge!

Wow!

Dear AJK Government!

You really do think we live in isolation and that there will never be accountability for your crimes. Greed is blind said many a wise man and woman.

Meanwhile, Malik Waseem has been featured in an anonymous newspaper, which refers to his association with me and the punishment he is facing as a result.
