Daily Diary (DD) - Day 365 of 2025

1140hrs:

Countdown to end of 2025: 1 day

So, the Achilles heel in my 20 year struggle and the past year in particular has been my inability to consistently sleep by 2000hrs and get up by 0300hrs. On the few occasions that I did get up at that time, I couldn't generate consistency and thus I must make serious efforts to address this weakness and make amends to the public cause. The next 3 months will remain devoted to public interest, although I will be operating from home in Sehnsa.

True to form, I didn't sleep until 2300hrs and got up just before 0700hrs this morning. A 3 to 4 hour gap or deficiency in my sleeping pattern endures even on the last day of the year.

....

Kuldeep Pandita has written a personal note for my daughter (although her name isn't Iqra but we'll go along with that name)

Dearest Iqra.

I am writing to you on 31.12.2025, the last date of the CE year 2025, to share with you facts of the matter, so that you could give it a place in your mind & heart, whenever you have the chance to read it & that way me shall have celebrated the year ending of the year 2025.

Dear Brother Tanveer Ahmed with an article dedicated to the little angel at your home, so that when she shall grow up she would read it as a letter to her written by her Pandit uncle across the borders, who has walked on this earth in blood and flesh and this will be as a testimony of his love towards the progeny of the civilizational state, narrating her the importance of women in this world, of which Sharada is the epitome.

The Unseen Authority

In a world where identities are often boxed and labelled, women transcend boundaries, embodying compassion, service and strength. The notion that "Ladies are neither Pandit nor Muslim. Ladies are ladies, or they are mothers, sisters, daughters or the husbands of the house", challenges conventional narratives, highlighting women's multifaceted roles.

Women aren't confined to religious or societal labels. They're businesswomen breaking glass ceilings, farm workers feeding nations, shopkeepers weaving local economies and journalists shaping narratives . They're doctors saving lives, drivers navigating cities, engineers building futures and teachers shaping minds.

As administrators, they steer organizations; as coaches and players, they conquer fields. In courts, they're judges and lawyers crafting justice today, women thrive in gig economies, redefining work on their terms.

Ladies are the real "husbands of the home" a powerful metaphor, that is positioning women as the backbone of households. They're decision-makers, providers and guardians of emotional wealth. This isn't about hierarchy; it's about recognizing unseen labour and quiet strength.

Women's roles aren't limited to domestic spheres. They extend compassion and service to society, often without seeking recognition. Their influence ripples through communities, fostering harmony and growth . This perspective reclaims women's narratives from reductionist stereotypes. It acknowledges their agency, celebrating roles that are often overlooked.

In essence, women are the heartbeat of society—multidimensional, resilient and indispensable. Their roles aren't bound by labels; they're defined by love, service and unyielding strength.

Their role in politics is far superior to that of any shrewd masculine politicians that the world could ever produce, for the simple reason that women possess a far more balanced mental capability, which is her greatest gift provided by nature.

Ladies are empowered by nature itself and seldom need any validation from anyone, least from those she gives birth to, be it a man or an idea.

Daughter nothing is impossible for a women to achieve.

With lots of best wishes and Greetings for life.

Your Uncle

0631hrs:

Countdown to end of 2025: 21 days

The intent was obviously there but despite getting to bed by 2030hrs and fighting to sleep I didn't succeed until 2300hrs and got up at 0558hrs this morning. Still almost 3 hours behind the optimum day. I need to fight harder.

How I access the history of Jihad in the valley
I hope your blog will be brave enough to give this write up its due space..
Nevertheless here it is

#rudranotes

The Fourfold Reckoning: Jihads of the Valley's Soul

In the shadow of Shalimar's frozen gardens, where the Jhelum whispers secrets of forgotten kings like Zain-ul-Abidin, a murmur rises from the Valley's heart: they said there are three jihads in force in the Valley. One more shall even the tables.

This is no mere slogan scrawled on a bunker wall; it pulses with the cadence of prophecy, a Kashmiri requiem for a land caught in eternal dialectic.

Think of it as echoing poets like Habba Khatoon, whose laments for lost lovers mirrored a people's exile, or modern militants' fatwas, framing conflict as divine phases ordained by the unseen hand of history. The first jihad erupted like a mountain storm in (19) '89—armed militancy at its rawest, boys with Kalashnikovs dreaming of caliphates amid the rubble of bunkers. Hizbul Mujahideen's thunder rolled through Srinagar's alleys, Lashkar-e-Taiba's fire scorched the Pir Panjal passes.

Schoolboys turned shaheeds, their blood scripting azadi on snow-dusted streets. This lesser jihad of flesh and fury birthed a generation of ghosts, where every crackdown fuelled the blaze—CRPF convoys ambushed, pellets blinding the innocent. It was the body's rebellion, visceral and immediate, yet it merely cracked the earth's crust. The second jihad shifted to shadowed boardrooms and fractured alliances: political separatism, waged with words sharper than steel. Hurriyat elders, kufis tilted like question marks, bartered in Delhi's corridors of power and Islamabad's labyrinthine bazaars.

UN resolutions yellowed like forgotten love letters, Article 370 frayed like a prayer rug under bureaucratic shears. Plebiscite pleas echoed in empty chambers, while engineered elections mocked the mandate of the masses. This was chess played on a bloodstained board—pawns sacrificed for kings who watched from afar, their diplomacy a veil over deeper designs.

The third jihad burns unseen, infiltrating the mind's hidden chambers: ideological and cultural, a war of whispers in the digital age. It flickers on Facebook feeds and encrypted Telegram chats, radicalizing restless youth who scroll past Bollywood glamour for beheading clips and fatwa threads. Cultural erosion clashes with demographic defiance—mosques amplify not just the azan, but algorithms of awakening. Here, online radicalization seeds sleeper cells in suburban homes, while assertions of identity reclaim narratives from history's erasers.

Consciousness fractures along these fault lines: the atman wrestles maya in pixelated dawns, as Sufi introspection meets Salafi fire. One more shall even the tables. The fourth jihad looms as a hypothetical tipping point, perhaps a mass uprising of the silenced millions or external intervention shattering the stalemate—not with guns or gavels alone, but a primordial surge of the collective soul. This mirrors prophetic styles in Urdu ghazals or Sufi texts, like those of Allama Iqbal, urging transformation amid oppression: Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil mein hai—the desire for uprising now stirs our hearts.

Iqbal's Asrar-e-Khudi (Secrets of the Self) frames it as ego's reconstruction, where oppression forges a new ummah, much like Habba Khatoon's Yusmane mane govan evokes longing turned to resolve. Philosophically, these phases probe the epistemology of resistance: are they external forces imposed by Delhi's iron fist or Islamabad's proxies, or inner dialectics of the self?

In Vedantic terms, the Valley embodies the play of purusha (consciousness) against prakriti (nature's chains), Hegel's thesis-antithesis barrelling toward synthesis. The three jihads represent maya's escalating illusions—militant rage, political mirage, cultural corrosion—culminating in the greater jihad: self-realization as revolution. When the Valley's atman stirs like Shiva's tandav, shattering colonial illusions, equilibrium dawns.

Oppressors' scales tip, not by fleeting force but the inexorable karma of history. The Jhelum flows free, tables evened in clay and cosmos. Yet this reckoning demands caution. Prophecy can intoxicate, birthing cycles anew. Will the fourth jihad liberate, or merely rename the chains? Kashmiris, stewards of Sufi syncretism—from Lalla Ded's ecstatic verses to Agha Shahid Ali's elegies—must wield it as mirror, not sword, reclaiming agency from zealots and states alike.

Asif Maqbool read it twice..

Lal Farosh rates the essay by his experience.

And Bansi Lal Reshi ji shares it with his friends.

0633hrs:

Countdown to end of 2025: 28 days

Have now bridged the gap to 3 hours by waking at 0600hrs today. Last night, I was also able to get to sleep by 2200hrs (10pm), thus just a 2 hour gap on that end.

We are honoured to feature another article from Kuldeep Pandita of Rainawari, Srinagar who lives in exile in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India:

I am placing an essay before your friends as an attempt to convey the oneness of the final goal and similarity in the paths suggested by the awakened men of the valley, for achieving God Realisation within Sufi Islam and Kashmir Shaivism.

This I am sharing for your blog on this date 4th December 2025 CE, such that those who shall read it hence forth or when I am long dead and gone; to be the witness for the cohesive knowledge that this part of the world has once seen, lived and believed in.

Our land of Paradise "Rishiwar - the people of legend"

The spiritual traditions of Kashmir Shaivism and Sufism share a profound similarity in their descriptions of the journey to God realization. Both paths outline a transformative process, guiding the seeker through multiple stages of consciousness expansion, ultimately leading to unity with the divine.

In Kashmir Shaivism, the journey begins with the Sakala state, where the individual is bound by impurities and limited awareness. This corresponds to the Sufi stage of seeking (Tawba), where the aspirant acknowledges their spiritual hunger and begins the quest for truth. As the seeker progresses, they enter the Pralayākala state, characterized by unawareness, mirroring the Sufi stage of love (Ishq), where the heart is awakened to the divine presence.

The Vijñānākala state, marked by subtle impurities, finds its parallel in the Sufi stage of intuitive knowledge (Ma'rifat), where the seeker gains insight into the nature of reality. The Shuddhavidya state, where unity in diversity is experienced, corresponds to the Sufi stage of independence (Istighna), where the seeker is freed from external influences.

As the journey unfolds, the Ishvara state, with its awareness of I-ness, mirrors the Sufi stage of unity (Tawhid), where the seeker experiences the oneness of God. The Sadashiva state, marked by the desire for creation, finds its parallel in the Sufi stage of astonishment (Hayrat), where the seeker is overwhelmed by the divine presence.

The seventh state in Kashmir Shaivism is the Shiva state, where the individual consciousness expands to encompass the universe and the seeker becomes one with the divine. This corresponds to the Sufi stage of station of annihilation (Fana) leading to permanence (Baqa), where the seeker's ego is dissolved and they are absorbed into the divine essence.

Additionally, Kashmir Shaivism describes the seven states of bliss (Turya) as:

1. Nijananda (Inner bliss)

2. Nirananda (Bliss without object)

3. Parananda (Transcendent bliss)

4. Bhramananda (Bliss of wandering)

5. Mahananda (Great bliss)

6. Cidananda (Bliss of consciousness)

7. Jagadananda (Bliss of the universe)

These states of bliss are also reflected in the Sufi stages, highlighting the shared experience of spiritual ecstasy and union with the divine.

The convergence of these mystical paths serves as a testament to the universal nature of spiritual seeking. Despite cultural and linguistic differences, the journey to God realization remains a shared human experience, transcending boundaries and uniting seekers across traditions.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 329 of 2025

0316hrs:

Countdown to end of 2025: 37 days

Yes, this is about the time I should be fresh & ready to pen my initial thoughts every morning. I have changed some aspects of my lifestyle to ensure that I am up and ready to go at 0300hrs every morning.

Can I keep it up? We will soon found out!

For the record, I did try and mentally prepare to sleep at 2000hrs (as I should every evening) but despite all efforts it did take me until 0100hrs to eventually close my eyes. I did get some rest but not sufficient sleep. I hope to make up for it at 2000hrs (8pm) this evening.

As intimated in various mediums, the famous senior lawyer of Bagh K (Karam) D (Dad) Khan, who has been practising law in Muzaffarabad for the past few decades, has served as Attorney General and who provides legal advice to JAAC (Joint Awami Action Committee) has also disclosed his reservations about the commitment of Pakistan's State in reference to the 4th of October 2025 agreement with JAAC, while hundreds of thousands of members of the public - at both home and abroad - looked on:

I've always wanted to provide an Urdu commentary on the State Subject Rules of 1927 #SSR1927 and have thankfully come across one such example:

The Convergence of Philosophies in Kashmir

The Kashmir Valley, nestled in the Himalayas, has long been a cradle of spiritual and philosophical traditions. The region's unique cultural landscape has been shaped by the interplay of diverse influences, including the indigenous Sanatan Dharma, Buddhism and Islam.

This essay explores how the Sanatan and Islamic philosophies have converged in the collective consciousness of Kashmir, giving rise to a distinct spiritual tradition that embodies the principles of both.

As aptly put, "Sanatan is all about what is and Abrahamic is all about what is not." This dichotomy highlights the fundamental difference between the two philosophical traditions. Sanatan Dharma, with its emphasis on the eternal and universal principles, focuses on the inherent nature of reality, the interconnectedness of all things and the cyclical nature of time. In contrast, Abrahamic religions, with their linear view of time and emphasis on commandments and prophetic revelations, often define themselves by what they are not, rather than what they are.

The Sanatan Dharma, with its roots in the Vedic period, has been an integral part of Kashmir's cultural identity. The valley has been a centre of Shaivism, particularly the Trika school, which emphasizes the recognition of the ultimate reality as the union of Shiva and Shakti. This philosophy, expounded by Abhinavagupta and other Kashmiri scholars, emphasizes the importance of self-realization and the recognition of the divine within.

The advent of Islam in Kashmir in the 14th century brought about significant changes to the region's spiritual landscape. Sufism, with its emphasis on the inner dimension of faith and the pursuit of spiritual growth, resonated with the existing Sanatan traditions. The Sufi concept of Wahdat al-Wujud (Unity of Being) found echoes in the Trika school's emphasis on the non-dual nature of reality.

As Islamic philosophy took root in Kashmir, it encountered the rich soil of Sanatan thought, leading to a fascinating synthesis. The Kashmiri Shavite poetess such as Lalla Ded and aboriginal Sufi Poet Sheikh Noor-ud-din Wali, exemplified this convergence. Their poetry, infused with the spirit of both Sanatan and Islamic traditions, celebrated the unity of existence and the pursuit of spiritual growth.

The collective consciousness of Kashmir has been shaped by this synthesis, which has become an integral part of the region's cultural DNA. The reverence for nature, the emphasis on spiritual growth, and the recognition of the divine in all things are common threads that bind the Sanatan and Islamic traditions in Kashmir.

The Shakti worshiping tradition, an integral part of Sanatan Dharma, has also influenced the Islamic practices in Kashmir. The veneration of sacred sites, such as the Sharada Peeth and the Hazratbal Shrine, reflects the blending of Sanatan and Islamic traditions. The Kashmiri Muslims' reverence for the goddess Sharada, for instance, is a testament to the enduring legacy of Sanatan Dharma in the region.

This convergence of philosophies has given rise to a unique spiritual tradition in Kashmir, one that emphasizes the unity of existence, the pursuit of spiritual growth and the recognition of the divine in all things. As the world grapples with the challenges of diversity and inclusivity, the Kashmir experience offers a beacon of hope, demonstrating that diverse philosophical traditions can converge and enrich each other.

In the words of the Kashmiri poet, Lalla Ded:

"My mother is the earth,
