Daily Diary (DD) - Day 224 of 2019

1336hrs:

It is Eid today and this is the first time in over 2 years of living in Dadyaal, that I'm celebrating Eid here.

It could and perhaps should've been Eid on the LOC but it can be described as Eid on the cold border. This is how we describe our border with Pakistan, as opposed to the frequently hot border at the LOC.

.....

Earlier this morning, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pakistan's foreign minister read Eid in AJK's capital Muzaffarabad. As soon as he came out the public began chanting slogans of, "Azaadi is paar bhi lengey..Azaadi us paar bhi lengey" (Freedom we will take on this side..Freedom we will take on that side too) repeatedly:

Pakistan's graph in AJK has dwindled rapidly since India's seemingly unilateral action to downgrade 48% of the State of J & K into 2 union territories of India.

......

....Yes, this gentleman in Azaadi Chowk Muzaffarabad is asking Pakistan to sit down, repeatedly. That it has stood for too long for Kashmir and Kashmiris....it must be tired....

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 73 of 2019

1932hrs:

I'll just list a few for future engagement:

1) Water Resource Management
2) Security vis a vis China
3) The 360 degree geography of J & K, old silk routes and connectivity in Asia

I’ll finish with an attempt to deal with an oft-cited apprehension that the Indian government would not be keen to allow His Excellency Dr. Karan Singh to visit AJK. We feel that he is our most precious asset and reconciliation without him would be very difficult, not least because he’s an erudite thinker and a living witness to everything that has transpired since the end of the Dogra Raj.

In my communication with him in 2008, he suggested a few measures to me. I am also privy to a few discussions he had with some of our key historical figures in AJK. I have completed those measures and would be eager to invite him here.

Actual end of article......

Let's return to the Kashmir Valley for a moment. This short video clip tells a thousand stories:

.....

Returning to AJK but remaining adjacent to the Koshur Valley:

Translation of tweet:

The public of the Neelam Valley are losing their patience over the internet blockade in their region. Protests have begun....

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 141 of 2026

1306hrs: At least I'm getting the format of daily rest right, even though it is at least 4 hours apart on each end (viz. sleeping & ...
