Not quite first thing in the morning but we are getting closer to blogging at the start of the day rather than at the end.

The date of the 24th of October is gaining significance in the pursuit of restoring the 'Right to Rule' of the people of AJK. The gap in what was written in that declaration and what ensued in the shape of the AJK Government set-up in Muzaffarabad is becoming increasingly obvious to activists throughout the territory. Hence, we are seeking written responses to our following video in order to generate an academic record on the subject, 'hashtagged' as #Citizen2StateContractAJK :

Here is how we have subsequently floated this subject:

Towards an internal #Citizen2StateContractAJK 

to act as fundamental model for #PublicPolicyJKA , a pre-requisite to internally choreograph the future of #Jammu #Kashmir & #Allied (areas) or #JKA for short. 

I would plead with folded hands to all conscientious citizens of #AJK - irrespective of how they perceive this nomenclature - to concentrate on the direct democratic power in their hands to change the political fate of this territory and its people (their own co-citizens including their families, relatives, friends and tribespeople). 

The power to transform this territory from a conflict economy to a peace economy is in their hands and not in the hands of any neighbouring country or global power. 

This is a 78 year lesson most of us have yet to fully grasp. 

I would humbly repeat my plea with folded hands....

(staying in or around AJK un-interrupted for less than 6 months short of 2 decades - 19 years & 6 months - has had its personal costs but its public benefits from an independent action-oriented researcher's point of view and a student of statecraft are countless).

to enter into a public dialogue between the entity that describes itself as 'The Government of AJK in the free part (territory) of the State of Jammu & Kashmir' and the 'Public of AJK', duly referenced in the 'Provisional Declaration' of the forbears of this 'Government' on the 24th of October 1947.

Momentum took me all the way to 0700hrs this morning before I finally fell asleep. I even almost got up for my morning walk at c. 0600hrs but thought better of it as it could have exhausted me for the rest of the day. Instead, I opted to sleep and got up at 1300hrs. It was 6 hours of sleep, an optimum amount but at totally the wrong time of day. Nevertheless, 129 days into the year and we battle on.

Note: Today's photo was taken from an angle never taken before. It can be described as the southern entrance of the Square. It should be remembered that the daily photo taken at the Square is usually the western entrance, which is the only entrance that remains open.  

Meanwhile, our punctuality percentage has dropped a point for the first time in a long time, on account of being late for 2 consecutive days in a row. Our daily diversion towards Sehnsa for the past week and the past 2 days in particular created challenges which we were unable to fully rise to.

Today was my latest arrival on record since beginning this activity on the 6th of June: 79 minutes late!

Thus, my punctuality deficit accumulated over 42 days has shot up to 396 minutes!

That is: 6 hours and 36 minutes to make up for.

The following is often quoted by myself in various public speeches and thus I thought it apt to provide a brief but concise description of the 'House of Wisdom' courtesy Khan Academy

where one can explore this historical theme further:

Abbasid Caliphs Harun al-Rashid and his son, al-Ma'mun, who followed him, established a House of Wisdom in Baghdad—a dedicated space for scholarship. The House of Wisdom increased in use and prestige under al-Ma'mun's rule, from 813 to 833 (CE).

Given that we - in AJK - live in a society where knowledge and wisdom is considered to be anathema, a destabilising influence and even sheer madness; I've always found the above example to be inspiring. Not least to revive Sharda as one of the most pre-eminent centres of learning and wisdom in the world.

I usually say that where where is knowledge & wisdom is likely to be a place of harmony, sectarian as well as between religions and non belief. All preceding factors lead to economy & influence too. What one may describe as a pristine form of 'soft power'.

All the above is almost absent in AJK and this is the whole point of our relentless struggle in a nutshell.

This is what keeps me aloof from London, Paris and New York despite my physical access to them. The aforementioned cities are already where we want to be. Or I dare say we want to surpass in all civilisational endeavour!

It is understood that Malik Waseem is due to 'appear' before DC Muzaffarabad today, after 16 days of solitary confinement in Raara jail, Muzaffarabad and still without access to a lawyer or legal defence of any kind.

Meanwhile, we are still working hard to get him a lawyer via an human rights organisation of global repute.

Update 1600hrs:

We understood Malik Waseem has been released but under what conditions is yet unclear. I haven't spoken to him yet but have requested sources to ask him to send an audio or written statement on the subject. If need be, we will also summon him to Shaheed Chowk Kotli.

It is quite revealing to note the comments on the following Facebook post, in reference to the K2 mountain range and the question as to which country it is located in. All comments unanimously describe it being in Jammu Kashmir & Allied areas (JKA). Whereas the outside world have always described it as being a part of Pakistan!

Students of Kotli stand and protest in solidarity with their brothers and sisters at AJK University in Muzaffarabad, who were beaten black and blue by AJK police. 

Why? 

Because they were peacefully protesting for rights that students throughout the world usually do not need to protest over.

The attitude of the AJK government to demands for basic rights by any citizen(s) of any shape or kind?

Beat them up and force them them to re-think the reality in which they live.
