Daily Diary (DD) - Day 66 of 2024

2058hrs:

It is now hoped that our daily diary should not be absent in its daily entry output ever again, as we have structured our affairs in such a manner that it should now be unavoidable.

Slept at c. 0300hrs but couldn't sleep for the following couple of hours. It was 1100hrs before I could get up. Try, try again and again and again.....is the mantra.

Our daily financial statement:

....

At times, let us take you back in history to make better sense of the present and to prepare us better for the future:

This is just another example that the first and foremost enemy of Jammu Kashmir's independence were the British. Of course, this point has been reiterated by various members of parliament over the decades since.

Excerpt quoted as follows:

In 1947, the British Secretary of State for India, Lord Listowel, clearly warned the rulers of Princely States that "the British Government will not recognise your independence, no one else will, you have no choice but to opt either for India or Pakistan."

The American State Department communicated to its ambassador in Delhi, Lewis Williams Douglas, to support Britain and not recognize any Princely State as an independent nation and not entertain any dealings with the princely rulers.

....." they are accredited that the US share the desire of HMG [His Majesty’s Government] in the UK that the Indian states should become associated with one or other of the two new dominions and have no intention of according to any Indian state separate recognition."

Secretary Lord Listowel also said that the decision of accession was entirely bestowed on the ruler of the princely state [implying that the people have no role] and the ruler should decide irrespective of the composition of its population or their views.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 65 of 2024

1331hrs:

Slept at 0500hrs in the morning as I was engrossed in data management, with literally a few million files to sort out, going back to 2005. It has been ongoing for the past week or so and is gradually taking shape. Data has no value if it is unorganised and a life has little value if it is not properly documented.

I got up at midday, which means I slept for c. 7 hours which is less than I have done on previous days but the timing remains very much out of sync. I battle on.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 63 of 2024

1200hrs:

Tragically missed out on yesterday's entry (Day 62 of 2024) as we've been without electricity for the past 24 hours. Whenever the weather takes a turn for the worse the first casualty is electricity. I did try my utmost to make something of the laptop screen but to no avail. I have to rely on a separate monitor to use the laptop and that is powered from the mains.

It is gut wrenching to have missed out. It is even more gut wrenching to know that there were ways to avoid it if I had planned in advance.

I did sleep around midnight and did up early at c. 0800hrs but it remained difficult to get up and do anything given the pounding the surrounding environment had taken.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 64 of 2024

For the purposes of ensuring that our daily output is logged and documented, despite the disaster with the internet yesterday, we will post relevant data for Day 62 of 2024 here:

It was a day to venture out after the torrents of last night:

Zulqarnain Mehfooz of Serra (in Poonch) near the LOC is amongst our most active co-citizens when it comes to water & soil management, especially for the purpose of growing food. In the FaceBook post below (corresponding to yesterday's date) one can see the ample produce emerging from his soil:

Here's the note related to this post:

#WaterManagement and #SoilManagement in #Serra tehsil #Hajeera nr. #Tattapani in #AJK & the #LOC in #Mendhar #JKA

The public of AJK have little to prove of their productivity but this is one of our finest examples.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 61 of 2024

1635hrs:

I still can't get the sleeping act right. I did wake at 0700hrs after going to sleep at around midnight and could have easily got up but didn't.

Eventually got up at midday. The rain did raise questions about determination but the importance of consistency is now deeply ingrained in my psyche. I just need to impose that sense of duty to my daily sleeping pattern.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 60 of 2024

1308hrs:

It is Day 60 already of the year 2024. It is also a leap year and thus today we are enjoying an extra day for the year. Let's hope that we can make the most of this day.

I am still struggling with my sleeping pattern, even at this stage of the year when we are on the edge of the beginning of month 3 of 12.

It wasn't until 0500hrs that I got to sleep. Consequently, I couldn't get up before 1100hrs despite my best intentions.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 59 of 2024

1623hrs:

Now effectively using my laptop as a desktop, until I can procure a new laptop.

Instead of improving on yesterday (9 hours) I fell back to 10 hours today. The initial part is correct viz. getting to sleep around midnight but its the morning which is letting me down, or rather I am letting it down.

....

I will first of all prioritise the daily budget statement that I began publishing on the 20th of February. Whenever I have a multitude of tasks to conduct in the field such tasks do tend to lag behind. I did publish for 3 days in a row till the 22nd. Now, I have to make amends for the days of the 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th and today the 28th to bring AJK Public Treasury up to date.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 58 of 2024

1429hrs:

In search of a new laptop...given that my screen is now effectively unusable. I am using another screen to temporarily do work that needs immediate attention.

I am now veering back towards a normal sleeping pattern. I slept around midnight and got up at 0900hrs. Still 3 hours more than necessary but at least I now have a pattern to work on.

Daily Diary (DD) - Day 57 of 2024

2342hrs:

My screen is getting worse....

Meanwhile, the past few days of erratic sleeping behaviour meant that I had to crash hard to try and make up for it. Even though I did sleep early yesterday I didn't get up till about 1400hrs today.

In line with the spirit of direct democracy and previous initiatives in this regard given the absence of governance in our territory, hereby is a citizen application for the role of Public Policy Administrator - AJK, posted via Facebook this morning in Mirpur:

Here's the text of the application:

Citizen application....

For the urgently required and visibly absent role of public policy administrator, in the constitutionally ambiguous territory of 'Azad'* Jammu & Kashmir, in clear and present danger of usurpation

1) Who?
I - Tanveer Ahmed - s/o Khan Muhammad Rafique inhabitant of dhok: #Kokoi in village: #Gurutta in tehsil: #Sehnsa in district: #Kotli in the geopolitically neutral territory: #AJK of country Jammu Kashmir & Allied (areas), or #JKA for short....

2) Origins
As an aspiring citizen tracing my heritage in the modern territory of JKA to over a 1,000 years, hereby make a solemn application in excellent health, to the public of 'Azad'* Jammu & Kashmir....

3) Role
On the morning of this 25th day of February 2024, in the historic city of #Mirpur , to become your 1st public policy administrator, before the end of this calendar year (2024)....

4) Sovereignty
Adopting a methodology using #ThePeoplesReference through #DirectDemocracy , conducted via an open referendum, based on adult suffrage over the age of 16....

5) Process
Until the formal transfer of power to a genuinely elected government in the territory of AJK, under a constitution created and ratified by its people, through their own chosen legal representatives, in conformance with international law and without prejudice to any conflict resolution template offered by any forum; including the #UnitedNations ....

6) Lacunae
The reasoning should be apparent given the documented record of JKA PUBLIC AGENCY over almost 2 decades, to recognise the administrative void in statecraft and governance prevailing in our country, since material changes were adopted on the ground in October 1947 - without reference to the people - despite both verbal and written commitments by all 'parties' concerned....

7) *Caution
The word 'Azad' is contentious and its use has always been to scrutinise its origins and clarify the legal viability of its continuous use in the public domain, while also ensuring the prevailing 'governing regime' in the territory publicly describing itself as the 'free' government of the State of Jammu & Kashmir, does not excuse itself from its inclusive and non-partisan pledges, declared on the 24th of October 1947.

8) Nomenclature
It also serves the purpose to distinguish this territory from other parts of JKA, without deviating from our constitutional origins and without using appellations that give propaganda value to the claims of our neighbouring countries, at the cost of our undeniable entitlement to popular sovereignty over the territory of JKA.

1) Disagree 👎
2) Agree (Y)
3) Don't Know (DK)
4) Explanation/Feedback (Optional)....
