Some travelling today. Hence the delay in posting. 

Luton Town's promotion push:

Background context

Luton Town kept me up till late and they have redeemed themselves somewhat. Returning to winning ways by beating Rotherham 2-0 away, which has now seen them earning 20 points from a possible 24, over the last 8 games. Those 2 draws against Stockport (at home) and Mansfield (away) are perhaps the reason why they are are still 3 points away from a play-off place, with only 2 games to go. 

Half the riddle will be solved this Saturday I suspect but the other half will only surface at the final whistle, on the final day of the season (next Saturday 2 May). 

Out of control:

Stockport - 6 points (3 games left & if they win game in hand, level on GD)

Bradford - 5 points (2 games left & 4 goals advantage to Luton in GD)

Bolton - 3 points (2 games left & 9 goals adrift in GD too)

Stevenage - 3 points (2 games left & 8 goals advantage to Luton in GD)

There are still effectively 6 teams vying for 4 promotion play-off places although Plymouth have dropped 1 point below Luton (with identical GD).  

Our next update will be on Saturday and the following fixtures will be noted with interest.

Doncaster vs Stevenage 

- Both have won 3 of their last 6 games. A Stevenage loss followed by a Luton win will give Luton control over their destiny.

Stockport vs Peterborough 

- Stockport have won 3 of their last 6 games, although they have been faltering of late while Peterborough have not won any of their last 6 games. It seems difficult for Peterborough to get anything here, even though they still haven't quite got out of the relegation zone.

Bradford vs Bolton

- Both have only won 2 of their last 6 games and there is potential in this result for Luton. Bolton just need a point to secure their play-off place and given their unassailable goal difference (GD) compared to Luton (viz. 9 goals) even a win for Bolton might favour Luton. However, if Bolton lose that would also give Luton control of their destiny albeit having to beat Bolton away on the final day of the reason and making up for that GD gap today against Barnsley and hoping Bradford score a few against Bolton, before Luton make up the difference on that final fixture viz. Bolton vs Luton. Meanwhile, Bradford losing or drawing would mean Luton need Exeter to get something against Bradford at home on the final day, as they fight against relegation.

Luton vs Barnsley

- Barnsley have only won 1 of their last 6 games while Luton have won 4 of their last 6. However, Barnsley did give Luton their worst defeat of the season (5-0) earlier and Luton could do justice by winning 6-0 and narrowing that GD gap with Bolton.

 

Plymouth vs Port Vale

- Plymouth have won 3 of their last 6 while relegated Port Vale have won 2 of their last 6. I can't imagine Port Vale getting anything out of this and I think Plymouth (who have had a much better second half of the season) will continue to knock on that play-off door by the end of this match.

There has been a marked shift in my condition as well as habit for the better today. I did get to sleep at around 2300hrs and got up at 0800hrs. Yes, it is still a a distance from the ideal routine but I am now more confident than before that I will imminently get this right.

1125hrs:

The intent is there, as in targeting sleep at 2000hrs in the evening, in order to get up at 0300hrs. I did turn off the lights at 2100hrs but struggled to sleep till 2300hrs, while getting up at 0700hrs. Thus, there is a 4 hour gap on both ends that needs to be addressed. I'm fairly confident about tomorrow.

My routine is improving albeit just at the bottom end (waking up). Getting up at 0500hrs just puts me 2 hours away from the perfect daily start. It's the top end (going to sleep) where I need to focus on more as last night I didn't get to sleep before midnight, 4 hours later than intended.

Luton Town's promotion push:

Background context

You have to take the rough with the smooth and Luton Town have narrowed their chances of a promotion play off place by drawing 2-2 at Mansfield Town. Yes, all the other teams fighting for a play off place also drew but this has let in Plymouth (the only team to win amongst those below Luton Town today) and of course there is one game less to play with, before the end of the season.

Out of control:

Stockport - 9 points (4 games left & if they win game in hand, 3 goals adrift in GD too)

Bradford - 7 points (3 games left & 2 goals advantage to Luton in GD)

Bolton - 3 points (2 games left & 11 goals adrift in GD too)

Stevenage - 3 points (3 games left & 7 goals advantage to Luton in GD)

Plymouth - 1 point (3 games left & 2 goals adrift in GD too)

So now, there are effectively 6 teams vying for 4 promotion play-off places.

Luton have now gained 17 from a possible 21 (in their most recent 7 league games) and can now only obtain a further 9 points from the remaining 9 available (in their remaining 3 league games) and still need to improve their GD to better Bolton's current 11 goal advantage, within these 3 games.

We'll now update you next on Wednesday, as 5 of the 6 teams (bar Bolton) fighting for 4 play-off places will be playing on Tuesday evening but their results will emerge beyond midnight here in AJK.

I feel a lot better today, especially given that I got to sleep at about 2200hrs last night and got up at about 0600hrs this morning. This is reorientation in the right direction once again. Now, I just have 2 hours to close at the top end (sleeping time viz. 2000hrs) and 3 hours to close at the bottom end (waking time viz. 0300hrs).

Continuing with the pattern being practiced over the past so many days. That is, getting to sleep at about the time I am supposed to be waking up viz. 0300hrs and getting up at 1000hrs, by which time I should have completed the bulk of my daily documentation/research duties. 

With just a couple of days to go, to my 21st anniversary of returning to my 'motherland', I am still a clear distance from reaching my sleeping routine aspirations, despite almost a year of 'trying'.

Background context

2 concerning teams (Luton itself (against Northampton Town) & Stockport (against AFC Wimbledon) played on the 15th of April in the UK, for us it translates as the 16th of April, given that we are 4 hours ahead), there has been another slight change in the scenario.

Out of control:

Stockport - 9 points (5 games left & if they win game in hand)

Bradford - 7 points (4 games left)

Bolton - 3 points (3 games left & 11 goals adrift in GD too)

Stevenage - 3 points (4 games left)

After their 2-1 win over Northampton today, Luton have climbed to 7th (just one spot and 3 points below Stevenage, having played the same amount of games but with a superior GD of 7).

Luton have now gained 16 from a possible 18 (in their most recent 6 league games) and just need to obtain 12 points from the remaining 12 (in their remaining 4 league games) and possibly improve their GD to +20 (another 12 clear goals compared to their opposition).

We'll now update you on Saturday, as all concerned teams (8 realistically), that are each fighting for 1 of 4 play-off places, will be playing that afternoon (in the UK and evening here in AJK).

That similar pattern continues, except that I got to sleep at c. 0400hrs (an hour later compared to the 2 mornings preceding today) and got up at 1100hrs. The only positive aspect is that I'm getting my full quota of sleep, yet the timing is absolutely atrocious, as I continue to recover from being 'under the weather'.
