Daily Diary (DD) - Day 102 of 2026

0327hrs:

I'm not able to avoid these false starts quite yet and I also seem to be alternating between sleeping at night and not being able to sleep at night. This is indeed a tough battle, if not the toughest battle of my life yet.

....

Since Luton Town have won a trophy today and they still have an outside chance of achieving promotion from League 1 (3rd tier of English football) to the Championship (2nd tier of English football), I thought I'd assess their performance over the year:

I did predict with 10 games left (after drawing away 1-1 against Doncaster on 11 March), that they may well need all 30 of the remaining 30 points available to them, whilst they also had to push up their goal difference (GD) to at least +20 (from +1), in order to secure a play-off position. Over the season, I feel Luton have dropped at least 20 points unnecessarily, which if secured would have likely translated into an automatic promotion place.

A Wycombe 1-2 (14 Mar) W

H Exeter 3-2 (18 Mar) W

H Stockport 1-1 (21 Mar) D

H Peterborough 2-1 (3 Apr) W

Half way - Have just dropped 2 points from 15 available and increased GD by +6
