Daily Diary (DD) - Day 309 of 2026

1354hrs:

Day 154 and today was perhaps the Pakistani State's biggest attack yet, on the peaceful protesters at Rawalakot. Their 'Big Operation' (so many months in the waiting) was a damp squib as we suspected all along. Yet damp squibs also have a cost. We have lost at least 7 of our co-citizens (most of them children hit in a drone attack at home) and have at least 17 injured at the time of writing (timeline indicated above).

This 'Big Operation' began at about 0530hrs this morning and continued till about 1130hrs (6 hours). They began by taking over the supplementary sit-in protest at Bus Terminal/Matiyaal Mehra when the public there was in short stock but they had to escape when throngs of the public converged on the sit-in protest less than a couple of hours later, from as far away as a radius of 40 kilometres. The Pakistani security forces had seemingly adopted a fresh resolve on Tuesday (2 days ago), derived from a pep talk by the visiting (and now) infamous Inspector General of police (IGP) - a 'borrowed' civil servant in AJK from Pakistan - namely Liaqat Malik (a former army captain), where he was accompanied by the practically insignificant prime minister of AJK Barrister Iftikhar Gilani.

It hasn't worked. We have repeated these warnings from the outset (from the 2nd of June 2026 to be precise). You cannot defeat a population that knows its territory and history. You're just simply increasing the bill of compensation due for killing, injuring and violating our people; just so that you may continue using a 'free hand' to extract resources & revenue from this territory, without any form of accountability!

Here's a noticeboard at Eidgaah Dreak, which was put up a few hours ago (thus it isn't updated) for the benefit of the thousands of men & women that have converged on the sit-in protest to protect & act in solidarity with their co-citizens.
