Day 97 and we are nowhere near a solution. There are discussions going on in the background between the State of Pakistan's representatives - with AJK politicians part of the mediation process - and Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JK JAAC). Disturbingly, Pakistan's clandestine agencies are also a part of this discussion process, although thankfully it is only a discussion and not a negotiation.
This writer is confident that JK JAAC can see through the deception, as the Pakistani State is only interested in crushing #RightsMovementAJK and its major proponent JK JAAC. We have noticed that the Pakistani army is working hard to sweeten the sentiments of the AJK public, particularly in Poonch where elections have not taken in 2 districts (7 of 33 constituencies viz. the districts of Poonch & Sudhnoti). Antics include driving by the outskirts of the sit-in protest and offering bottles of Pepsi, other food items and sometimes even cash in a miserable attempt to soften people's views, in consequence of the 200 or so co-citizens of ours that they have either killed and/or abducted presumed dead, since their fresh invasion on the 5th of June 2026.
Earlier, this morning this writer pillion rode with a gentleman who had just returned from visiting his 2 brothers held with hundreds of other 'prisoners' at Rawalakot police station, where there is barely space for accommodating 20 accused at one point in time. Most of these 'accused' are being held captive in the courtyard of the police station, with Pakistani Rangers standing guard along with local police. Many have been held captive without any due legal procedure - some have been there since the beginning of this war - and they given a measly meal just once a day.
This gentleman has been trying to secure the release of his 2 brothers and the police are asking for 5 lakh rupees (bribe) each to secure their release!
If all the above is not torture enough, many of these captives are also beaten mercilessly on a regular basis, for daring to protest peacefully for their rights.
